Last Wednesday, on 22.06.2022 at around 05:40 a.m., a traffic accident with personal injury occurred at the intersection of Tholeyer Straße / Richtstraße in Alsweiler. A 49-year-old man from St. Wendel was riding his e-bike on Tholeyer Straße (B 269) towards Tholey when his right of way was disregarded by a car turning from Richtstraße into Tholeyer Straße. The cyclist had to perform an emergency stop to avoid a collision with the car. In doing so, he fell and was seriously injured. The perpetrator did not attend to the cyclist and continued driving. The St. Wendel police are now investigating for leaving the scene of the accident without permission according to § 142 StGB as well as negligent bodily injury under § 229 StGB. The vehicle involved is said to have been a white small car. The St. Wendel police urgently seek witnesses who can provide information about the traffic accident.
