Chanson Days: Mercutio
July 18, 2026 | 8:00 PM
On July 18, 2026 at 8 PM, the Vauban Island in Saarlouis will once again transform into a place of intense musical encounters. As part of the Chanson Days, the extraordinary ensemble Mercutio will be on stage, combining poetic chanson with powerful stage energy while uniting literary depth and musical diversity.
The name says it all: Mercutio – the dazzling character from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet – symbolically represents the band’s artistic self-understanding. Positioned between opposites and nuances, Mercutio embodies both playfulness and thoughtfulness, the provocative as well as the tender. He is at once jester and wise man, a border crosser between worlds – and precisely this complexity is reflected in the ensemble’s music.
Mercutio creates soundscapes where the audience can find itself: between lightness and melancholy, between departure and memory. Their songs tell of encounters, friendships, love, and loss – of all the moments that shape life. In doing so, they succeed in transforming the personal into something universal and creating a connection that goes beyond the stage.
Musically, the formation looks back on a long and eventful history: Emerging from the band Gueules d’Aminche, which has been performing on stages across France and beyond since 2010, the project has steadily evolved over the years. Today, Mercutio combines vocals, guitar, double bass, drums, accordion, and trumpet into a multi-layered, dynamic sound. Over 15 years of stage experience, several albums, and hundreds of concerts shape the artistic maturity of the musicians, who nevertheless continually reinvent themselves.
The band has already shared the stage with renowned artists such as Les Négresses Vertes, Yves Jamait, or Les Ogres de Barback and has played at prestigious festivals.
Admission is free.
