FDP Saar: Jung is outraged about others – and shirks his own responsibility

Social Minister Magnus Jung criticizes the planned cuts to maintenance advance payments as a socio-political clear-cutting. His criticism is understandable. However, it would be more credible if he acted where he himself bears responsibility.

“Magnus Jung regularly complains loudly about the decisions of others. But when he could decide something himself in Saarland, he shirks his responsibilities,” explains Dr. Helmut Isringhaus, health policy spokesman of FDP Saar.

This is particularly evident in the investment costs for nursing homes and hospitals. If the state were to cover the investment and training costs in inpatient care, the residents’ personal contributions could decrease by several hundred euros per month. And if the state were to cover the investment costs of the hospitals, the hospitals would be in a much better position. Instead, Jung refers to the burden on the state budget and makes those in need of care, relatives, and municipalities pay.

“Anyone who demands social responsibility must also take it on themselves. Mr. Jung cannot complain about social hardships in Berlin and refuse necessary decisions in Saarland,” says Isringhaus.

FDP Saar calls on Jung to abandon his blockade on investment costs. This could immediately reduce the high costs for nursing homes, which he himself laments.
