Applicants can in the future receive their BAföG notifications securely, encrypted, and entirely digitally.
As one of the first federal states, Saarland has introduced the digital return channel for the BAföG process. This enables the MASFG to allow applicants to receive official notifications fully digitally from now on.
Digital application submission is already an established standard in Saarland. Through the nationwide online portal "BAföG digital," initial applications can be submitted electronically. The subsequent submission of documents and evidence also takes place easily via digital means. With the introduction of the digital return channel, the entire process—from the application submission to the delivery of the notification—is now continuously digitized for applicants. This saves time and makes the procedure overall simpler and more efficient.
In the digital transmission of official notifications, the protection of sensitive data is the highest priority. To best secure the confidential social data of students, Saarland relies on the proven infrastructure of the federal government. A prerequisite for digital receipt is a BundID account in combination with the online identification function (eID) of the identity card. This state-certified identification ensures that sensitive documents are accessible only to the authorized person. The notifications are encrypted and made available in the personal BundID mailbox. This guarantees the highest level of data security and protection against unauthorized access.
